Opening hours

Front desk is open 24/7. Breakfast at BAXTUR is served every morning from 7:00 to 10:00. The bar is open every day until 23:00. Housekeeping cleans between 9am and 4pm (one page states 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for renovation noise).

Parking and arrival

KEX doesn't have designated parking, but on-street spots are available right in front of the hostel and nearby, categorised as P3. Chargeable hours are weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00 (free overnight), and totally free on Saturdays and Sundays. Prices: the first 2 hours are 240 ISK per hour, after that 70 ISK per hour. You can pay at a parking meter or use the mobile app called PARKA.

Age limits

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children under 16 cannot stay in shared dorms; children over 16 can stay in shared dorms when travelling with a guardian. Children under the age of 3 are welcome to stay for no extra cost in private rooms, with baby cots available on request subject to availability.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is guaranteed from 15:00. Check-out is until 11:00. Luggage storage is kept for a maximum of 1 day.

Is laundry available?

Yes, washing machine and dryer are on the 4th floor, costing 990 ISK each.

How much is the Flybus to KEX?

From Airport to Bus Stop #9 Snorrabraut (400m from KEX) is 5,199 ISK and takes 60 minutes. From Airport to BSI is 3,999 ISK and takes 45 minutes.

Is there parking at KEX?

KEX doesn't have designated parking, but on-street P3 spots are available nearby. Weekdays chargeable 9:00 to 18:00 (free overnight), free on Saturdays and Sundays. First 2 hours are 220 ISK per hour, then 65 ISK per hour.

Is the restaurant open?

The restaurant is currently closed for renovation and is planned to reopen in summer 2025 with a new concept.

Is WiFi available?

Yes, free WiFi is available. Network: Kex Hostel-Guest, Password: HotWater.

What time is check-out?

The latest check-out time is 11:00.

What time is check-in?

The guaranteed check-in time is 15:00. If the room is ready when you arrive, early check-in may be possible, subject to availability. If not, free secure luggage storage is available.

Are prices tax inclusive?

Reykjavik city tax and 11% VAT are included in all prices.

What is the taxi service?

KEX uses a taxi company called HREYFILL, reachable at +354 588 5522; reception can call a taxi for guests.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is forbidden inside the building. Guests can smoke at the front of the hostel or in the patio area. A fee of 35,000 ISK applies if this rule is broken. Smoking cannabis is also not allowed in Iceland.

Are there lockers for valuables?

Yes, lockers are provided in rooms, but guests need a padlock, which can be bought at reception for 1,000 ISK.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast is not included. It is offered at BAXTUR for 2,700 ISK, served every day from 7:00 to 10:00.

Is luggage storage available?

Yes, free luggage storage is available near the reception, accessible 24/7, for a maximum of 1 day.

Is there public transport to the airport?

Bus 55 can be taken to the City Center or Airport, costing 2,280 ISK, though it may take longer and be trickier to plan.

Can infants stay for free?

Children under the age of 3 are welcome to stay for no extra cost in private rooms. Baby cots are available on request, subject to availability.

Is there an airport transfer?

Transfers from Keflavik Airport directly to the front of KEX are available, with open tickets for departures scheduled every 40 minutes following each flight arrival, operating in both directions.
