How the operator directory works
Answers to common questions about Sóley's operator directory, its public sources, numbers, exclusions, refreshes and corrections.
Where this information comes from
- Ferðamálastofa: Day Tour Operator Register.
- Ferðamálastofa: Travel Agency Register.
- Sýslumenn: Accommodation Operating Licence Register.
Some accommodation licences are combined operating licences that also cover restaurant or bar service. Sóley shows each licence exactly as the register records it, so a listing in the Accommodation category may primarily operate as a restaurant, bar or café.
What the numbers mean
- 3,913 active licensed entities are present across the full source registers.
- 3,584 listings have a mapped region.
- 3,083 company listings are currently available in public search.
- 854 public listings have a verified website or phone number.
- 2 labelled demo profiles are currently bookable.
- 2,229 public company listings currently rely on public licence records rather than verified contact or bookable profile data.
An operator means a company or sole trader that holds one or more tourism licences. Public search currently includes companies only.
A listing is one public directory page. Records from more than one register can be combined into that page.
What is not included, and why
496 natural-person listings are withheld pending counsel. They are not included in public search.
0 listings are suppressed after verified correction or removal decisions and stay excluded from later refreshes.
How often it refreshes
Sóley refreshes the source registers weekly. The latest source refresh represented here is September 7, 2026. Evidence-backed contact facts keep their own checked dates.
How to correct or remove your listing
A business representative can claim a listing for free to correct public facts, add verified contact details and supply their own content. Conflicting sources are flagged for review.
Removal can be requested without an account. Sóley verifies control of a business email when evidence exists, or sends the request to manual review. A verified removal stays suppressed from later register refreshes.
Bookable listings today are a demo
Bookable listings are a labelled demo pilot. They do not mean that real operators are bookable through Sóley today.
