Frequently asked questions

What is Sóley?

Sóley is a direct booking network for Icelandic tourism. It connects AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude to real Icelandic operators: tours, activities and places to stay. You plan your trip in the assistant you already use and book directly with the people who provide the service, not through a booking site in the middle.

Can I book an Iceland trip through ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Once Sóley is connected to your assistant (see the connect page for current steps for each assistant), it can search real operators, check live availability, quote prices in your currency and reserve a booking. You confirm the booking yourself on a secure payment page.

Does Sóley add a booking fee for travellers?

No. You pay the operator's own price. Sóley adds no booking fee.

Is it safe to book through an AI assistant?

Planning and search happen in the chat; payment never does. You confirm each booking on a secure payment page, you pay the operator through the operator's own payment provider, and Sóley never holds your money. Once payment completes, a booking confirmation is sent to the contact details you provide. Cancellations and refunds follow the operator's published policy.

Who are the operators on Sóley?

Operators are on a ladder of capability. Some are bookable directly in the conversation. Some have verified contact details, and booking continues with the operator. The rest are public licence records from Iceland's registers, free for the operator to claim. Every step up is free.

How do Icelandic operators join Sóley?

Registration is open at soley.travel/for-operators. Operators keep their own pricing, their guest relationship and their own payment processing, and pay Sóley a 10% commission on completed bookings only. There is no listing or subscription fee.
