More than one location: sites, properties and meeting points on Sóley

Written for the person who runs bookings, not for IT. Menu names are given as they appear on screen.

Many operators work from more than one place: two guesthouses, a show in two towns, a tour that leaves from two meeting points. Sóley has one rule for all of them, and two tools.

The rule. One Sóley business for each place that sells its own rooms or tickets. The rooms and services an assistant can book are searched by each business's one registered position, so a second site in another town that sells its own inventory needs a business of its own. A second site in the same town, and every meeting point, belongs on the map of the public listing you already have.

The two tools.

  1. Map locations on your public listing: up to twenty points travellers see on the map, added by you in a few minutes.
  2. A second business, created from your own login and switched between in the portal.

Before you start

  • Your listing is claimed. Find your business on soley.travel, click Claim this listing, and verify with company e-ID or a verified email on your company domain. Until then the map card says to claim a public registry listing first and offers nothing to add.
  • You know the spot. The portal has a map you click; coordinates are optional.

Map locations: sites and meeting points on your listing

Open Settings in the portal and scroll to Traveller map locations.

  1. Click Add location.
  2. Location type. The list offers only the types your licences allow: Property for accommodation, Venue or site for a show or attraction, Meeting point for a tour departure, Office for an office travellers may visit. Every claimed listing may add a venue; the other three come from the licences the register holds for your company.
  3. Short label. What travellers should read, for example "Second house, Austurvegur 12" or "Meeting point at the Skaftafell terminal". The town is recorded separately.
  4. Town. Type it or pick it from the list, which holds every town a public registered listing is in. A town the register does not know is refused, and you may always leave the field empty. Once the point has coordinates, Sóley offers the town it falls in; accept it with one click.
  5. Place the point. Click the map, or type latitude and longitude.
  6. Which is this? Choose This is another site. The other option, "This is our registered address, shown more precisely", corrects where your registered office appears on the map; only one point per listing may do that.
  7. Save location. The point shows on your public listing at once, marked "Operator-provided" with the date, and the "Location on the map" tick on your listing status turns green.

Twenty points per listing is the cap. Edit or delete a point at any time with the pencil and bin icons. Nothing in your booking system or your other channels is touched.

What the map does and does not do. A point is read by the register searches: an assistant asking Sóley's licensed-operator register for a town finds your listing through a point in that town, and is told which site matched, by its label and town. A route search does the same, finding the listing from any point inside the radius. What a point does not do is move your bookable inventory. Rooms and services are searched by the business's one registered position, so a second site's rooms or tickets are still offered from wherever the business is registered. If your second site is in another town and sells its own inventory, read on.

A second business: a site in another town

Your login can hold several businesses. Once it does, the portal shows an Editing switcher at the top of the left menu, with Add another business at the bottom of it.

  1. Create it yourself. Signed in, open soley.travel/en/operator/onboarding?add=1 and the onboarding wizard starts blank for the new business. Add another business in the Editing switcher opens that same address, and the switcher itself appears once your login holds more than one business, so the first time you go to the address directly. Nothing you already have is touched.
  2. Switch to it in the Editing switcher. Everything you do next applies to that business only.
  3. Settings, once per business: business information, cancellation policy, and the operator agreement under "Open for bookings". The terms are the same for every business: your prices, your guest, you are the seller; Sóley charges 10 percent of what you collect on bookings made through Sóley, invoiced monthly to the invoice address you give.
  4. Connect your booking system for this business. See the next two sections.
  5. Rooms or services for this site only, with at least three real photos each.
  6. Payments. Settings → Payments, your acquirer's credentials again. One acquirer account can serve every business; the credentials are stored per business. Guide: soley.travel/en/docs/payment-setup.
  7. The first booking. One test booking together with Sóley's card, confirmed in your booking system, then cancelled. The site is live.

What the second business does not get. Iceland's licence registers carry one entry per company number, and a public listing is claimed by one business. So a second business under the same kennitala has no register entry of its own to claim, and its Settings page offers no map locations. It is bookable from its own position, which is the point of creating it; the public listing, and the map points on it, stay with the business that claimed it.

Two companies, not one. If the second site is run by another legal entity with its own kennitala, find that company's listing on soley.travel and claim it the same way you claimed the first. It appears in the switcher next to the first, with its own register entry and its own map locations, and steps 2 to 7 are the same.

Accommodation: Godo or Beds24

One invite code can cover several properties. Under Property access in Godo or Beds24, choose the properties you want on that business, and Sóley imports every one's room types as private drafts for you to review and publish. So two houses in the same town live on one business, connected once.

For a property in another town, on its own business: create a second invite code in the same Godo or Beds24 account with property access limited to that property, switch to the second business in Sóley, and paste it under Settings → Calendar → Beds24 / Godo. One PMS connection is stored per business and provider, so each business needs its own code. Full guide: soley.travel/en/operators/help/beds24.

Tours and activities: Bókun

One Bókun account holds every site's experiences, and the Sóley connection is stored per business. Switch to the second business, open Settings → Calendar → Bókun, and install the Sóley app or paste your API key a second time. Then, in Services, add each show or tour sold at that site and, in its Bókun panel, choose the experience for that site; the list is read live from your account, so both sites' experiences appear, pick the right one. Sóley shows the start times it found so you can see the right experience is mapped. Full guide: soley.travel/en/operators/help/bokun.

Good to know

  • Same team, every business. Under Settings → Team you invite colleagues as editors per business. Editors update content and never see payment, billing or tax details.
  • Bókun's fee is Bókun's. Bókun charges 1.5 percent on bookings made through its API, per connected account, however many Sóley businesses use it.
  • Not yet built: a bookable search that reads your map points. Until it ships, a site in another town that sells its own inventory needs its own business. When that changes, this page will say so.
