Vik, South Iceland
Welcome to Sigga's Guesthouse — our little home away from home in the heart of Vík, Iceland's charming southernmost village. I'm Sigga, and my family has been welcoming travelers here for over fifteen years. When we first opened our doors, we had just two rooms and a dream of sharing this incredible corner of Iceland with the world. Today we have five cozy rooms, each one lovingly maintained and with views of the mountains that never get old, no matter how many mornings I wake up to them. We are just a five-minute walk from Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach with its towering basalt columns and roaring Atlantic waves. Many of our guests head down there first thing in the morning when the light is magical and the crowds haven't arrived yet — I'm happy to share my tips for the best photo spots. If you're lucky, you might even spot puffins nesting on the cliffs at Dyrhólaey, which is a short drive away. Breakfast is always included and it's something we take real pride in. Every morning we set out a traditional Icelandic spread: freshly baked bread, homemade jams, local skyr with berries, smoked fish, boiled eggs, and strong Icelandic coffee. It's the kind of breakfast that will keep you going through a full day of exploring waterfalls and glaciers along the south coast. Our Double Room is perfect for couples — it's cozy and quiet with a private bathroom and those lovely mountain views. If you're traveling with family, our Family Room has a double bed plus a bunk bed and comfortably fits four. Both rooms are simply furnished in a warm Scandinavian style because we believe in comfort without fuss. Vík itself is a wonderful little village. There are a handful of good restaurants within walking distance (Súður-Vík is my personal favorite for lamb), a wool shop where you can pick up a genuine lopapeysa sweater, and the iconic Reyniskirkja church on the hill. From here you can easily explore Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and the stunning Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. We offer free parking right outside, and there's WiFi throughout the house. Check-in is between 14:00 and 22:00, and check-out is at 11:00. If you need to arrive late, just let us know and we'll sort out a key for you. We can't wait to welcome you to Vík. There's something special about this place, and I think you'll feel it the moment you arrive.
