About

Welcome to Seljavellir Farmstay — a real, working Icelandic sheep farm where you can experience the countryside as it's been lived for centuries. Our family has farmed this land for three generations, and we love sharing it with travelers who want something more authentic than a hotel room. You'll wake up here to the sound of sheep bleating in the fields, birds singing, and — if you listen closely — the distant rumble of Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which you can actually see from the farm. It's just a five-minute drive away. We have about 200 sheep, a handful of beautiful Icelandic horses, and Flóki, our border collie who thinks he runs the place (he might be right). We offer three types of accommodation. Our Farm Double Rooms are in the main farmhouse — simple, clean, and comfortable with shared bathrooms and breakfast included. Our Farm Cottages are private little retreats with their own kitchenette, bathroom, and a terrace looking out over the fields. And our Family Farm Cottages have two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and enough space for the whole family to spread out. One of the things guests love most is our farm dinners. Every evening (book by 14:00), we serve a home-cooked meal in the farmhouse kitchen: lamb stew made with our own lamb, freshly baked bread from our wood oven, and a traditional Icelandic dessert. It's 6,900 ISK per person and it's the kind of meal that makes you feel like family. We eat together around the big table, and it's not unusual for guests from different countries to end up sharing stories and wine late into the evening. Down by the stream, we have a shared hot pot — a natural geothermal pool where you can soak under the open sky. In summer, the midnight sun turns everything golden. In winter, this is one of the best spots in the area for Northern Lights. Kids absolutely love it here. They can meet the sheep and horses, help with feeding if they want to, play with Flóki, and run around in the fresh country air. Horse riding is available right on the farm — our Icelandic horses are gentle and perfect for beginners. We're ideally located for exploring the south coast. Seljalandsfoss and the hidden Gljúfrabúi waterfall are moments away. Skógafoss is thirty minutes east. Eyjafjallajökull glacier towers above us. And the Þórsmörk valley — one of Iceland's most beautiful hiking areas — is accessible from a trailhead not far from the farm. Check-in is between 15:00 and 21:00, with self-check-in available if you're arriving late. Check-out is at 11:00. We offer free parking and WiFi, but honestly — this is a place for disconnecting, breathing deep, and remembering what matters.
