About

Welcome to Dyrhólaey Cottages — six handcrafted timber cottages perched on the cliffs above one of Iceland's most dramatic coastlines. When we chose this spot, we knew we'd found something special: unobstructed views of the Dyrhólaey rock arch, the vast Atlantic Ocean, and on clear days, the Westman Islands floating on the horizon. We built these cottages for people who want to experience Iceland's raw beauty in complete privacy and comfort. Each cottage is fully self-contained with its own kitchen, living area, bathroom, and — the part everyone loves most — a private outdoor hot tub. Imagine soaking in steaming water while watching the sunset paint the ocean gold, or on a winter night, seeing the Northern Lights ripple green and purple directly above you. It's the kind of moment that stays with you forever. Our Cozy Cottage is perfect for couples: one bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the ocean. The Family Cottage has two bedrooms and a bit more space for those traveling with children. And our Premium Cliff Cottage is our pride and joy — positioned right at the cliff's edge with panoramic glass walls, a premium hot tub, and the feeling of floating between sky and sea. From May through August, something magical happens here: Atlantic puffins arrive by the thousands to nest on the cliffs. You can watch them from your terrace — these comical, colorful little birds swooping in and out with beaks full of fish. It's one of the easiest places in Iceland to see puffins up close without joining a boat tour. The cottages are fully equipped for self-catering: oven, hob, fridge, coffee maker, and all the utensils and cookware you'll need. We stock each cottage with coffee, tea, and a small welcome treat on arrival. The nearest grocery store is in Vík, about fifteen minutes away. We're beautifully located between Vík and Skógar on the south coast, making this an ideal base for exploring the area's highlights. Reynisfjara black sand beach is a short drive east. Skógafoss waterfall is twenty minutes west. The Mýrdalsjökull glacier is just to the north. And the Dyrhólaey lighthouse viewpoint — one of the most photographed spots in Iceland — is practically in our backyard. Check-in is at 16:00 and check-out at 11:00. We have a two-night minimum stay because we believe this place deserves more than a quick overnight. Slow down, soak in the hot tub, watch the birds, cook a meal with local ingredients, and let Iceland work its magic on you. We can't wait to welcome you to our little corner of the coast.
